The smallest bear facing the biggest threats!

August 2023, I'm in Sabah on the Malaysian island of Borneo to discover the world's smallest bear.

Alongside Mongabay* environmental journalist Carolyn Cowan, I'm heading for the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre. It is here that the centre's director and founder, Siew Te Wong, tells us about the lives of these bears, which face many threats.

Cared for and protected, the bears at the Centre are destined to be released if they fulfil the conditions for survival. But to where? To a jungle cut down by unbridled logging? To hunters and poachers …? Discover their stories in this article.
